Diane Whitehill - Profile
 

Diane is an experienced practitioner in both Key Stage 1 & 2, having taught children in several different year groups and with a wide range of abilities and needs. She is familiar with all aspects of the Primary Curriculum in terms of delivery and assessment, planning and classroom management. 

 

She feels passionately that learning should be enjoyable and meaningful to the pupil through a very hands on and practical approach in her teaching. Diane has encouraged children to embrace the wider curriculum by offering after school clubs, such as sword fencing and environmental activies.

 

Diane gained her B.Sc (Hons) Natural Science and Primary Education at Edge Hill University.

She is a member of the General Teaching Council and has a fully up to date enhanced CRB certificate.

 

Diane has two years experience working in Africa, where she taught chemistry and biology in a teacher training college in Ghana, She also had responsibility for enhancing trainee teachers' subject delivery and classroom management in her capacity as Teacher Support Officer.

 

Alan Whitehill - Profile
 
Alan has 14 years teaching experience in secondary education, and was Curriculum Leader for Business Education for 8 years. He has taught Business Studies and Economics at GCSE and A level, and has experience of delivering the subjects with the awarding bodies AQA, OCR and Edexcel.
 
He has been a designated Mentor for Newly Trained and Trainee Teachers, and has performed Associate Tutor work with a local university.
 
He has a wealth of industrial experience working in the financial sector and completed his degree is in Social Sciences with the Open University, whilst in full-time employment. Alan then left work to complete his PGCE at Edge Hill University, which he passed with distinction in 1992.
 
Alan has two years experience working in education in Africa. As a Management Support Officer in a rural District Education Office, Alan worked closely with Head Teachers and teachers helping to develop classroom practice. He is particularly interested in global awareness and development economics issues.
 
He has a relaxed, friendly but purposeful approach to tutoring and all his lessons are tailored to the needs of the tutee.
 
Alan is a member of the General Teaching Council, and has a fully up to date enhanced CRB certificate.
